Estimates Only
All calculations produced by EICalc.ca are estimates. They are based on publicly available ESDC rates, Statistics Canada regional unemployment data, and Service Canada's published benefit weeks matrix. The results shown are not official Employment Insurance determinations and carry no legal weight.
Your actual EI benefit amount, eligibility status, and number of benefit weeks are determined exclusively by Service Canada after reviewing your Record of Employment (ROE), your complete application, and any supporting documentation they require. The calculator cannot replicate Service Canada's full adjudication process.
What the Calculator Does Not Account For
- Disqualification factors — voluntary leaving without just cause, dismissal for misconduct, labour dispute involvement
- Severance allocation — termination pay, pay in lieu of notice, or vacation payout that shifts your claim start date
- Exact best-weeks calculation — the tool uses average weekly earnings as a proxy; Service Canada uses your specific highest-earning weeks from the ROE
- Family supplement — additional benefits for low-income families with dependent children receiving the Canada Child Benefit
- Extended seasonal benefits — additional weeks available to eligible seasonal workers in certain regions
- Prior claim interactions — if you had a recent previous EI claim, your qualifying period may be shorter than 52 weeks
- Overpayment history — existing EI debts may offset future benefit payments
